Sarail and Ashuganj to be upgraded to municipalities: Rumeen Farhana

Sarail and Ashuganj will be upgraded to municipalities, announced Rumeen Farhana, Member of Parliament for the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency.

Ashuganj will be upgraded soon, while Sarail will be upgraded within one to two years. All necessary steps have been taken in this regard, she said.

The MP was speaking as the chief guest at an exchange of views held at the Sarail Upazila Parishad auditorium on Saturday, May 9.

Addressing local residents, Rumeen Farhana said, "Sarail belongs to all of us. If anyone tries to obstruct my work or if any quarter thinks they will not let the MP work, then your area will fall behind for five years."

"I am not only speaking to government officials but also to the people of Sarail. If we can maintain a harmonious environment and work together, I believe it will not be very difficult to develop this upazila into a model upazila, which is my electoral pledge," she added.

Addressing administration officials, the MP said, "I know there are challenges in working with an independent MP. Working with me may also be somewhat difficult. I will try to work in coordination with everyone as much as possible."

"Our political culture places pressure on the party in power. Party leaders think they are the prime minister of their respective areas. Even a union-level activist thinks his party is in power, so he is the prime minister of his area. This pressure is always on the administration. I understand this very well. However, I will try my best to make your work as easy as possible," she said.
