School teacher dies from electrocution in Mymensingh
A school teacher died after being electrocuted at her home in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh on Saturday afternoon (June 13).
The deceased was identified as Tahmina Akter Tonni (30), daughter of Abu Taher of Panchbagh village under Panchbagh union. She had recently completed her master's degree and was serving as a teacher at a local kindergarten school.
According to family members and police, the incident occurred around 3:00pm when Tonni attempted to switch on an electric fan placed on a table while doing household chores. She suffered a severe electric shock and collapsed on the spot.
Relatives rushed her to Hossainpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician declared her dead.
The tragic death has cast a pall of gloom over the family and the local community. Colleagues described Tonni as a promising young teacher whose untimely demise has deeply saddened residents of the area.
Confirming the incident, Pagla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Aminul Islam said police visited the scene and completed the necessary legal formalities before handing over the body to the family.
