Schoolboy killed in accident, policeman finds his son while recovering body
A fourth-grade schoolboy was killed in a road accident in Kishoreganj. The accident occurred on the Gaital Abdul Wahed Janata Government Primary School road in the city around 10:20 am on Friday.
While recovering the body at the scene, a policeman from Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station, Shamsul, found the deceased child as his son.
The deceased, Tuhin, 10, is a fourth-grade student of Abdul Wahed Janata Government Primary School. His father, Constable Shamsul, works at Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station. Their village is in Netrokona Sadar Upazila.
According to police and local sources, Tuhin set out on a bicycle to go to a friend's house in the morning. On the way, a cement-laden truck ran over him and he died on the spot.
Constable Shamsul went to the scene as part of his duty after receiving news of the accident. He still did not know that the child whose body he was going to recover was his own son. Upon reaching the spot, he was shocked to see the body and broke down in tears. His colleagues and locals tried to console him. The scene saddened everyone present.
Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abul Kalam Bhuiyan said that Constable Shamsul went to the spot after receiving the news of the accident. Later, he found out that the deceased child was his own son. The incident is very painful for all the members of the police station.
He also said that the body has been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital. The truck involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver has fled. Efforts are on to arrest him and legal action is being taken in the matter.
