Schoolgirl killed by throat-slitting in Banasree

A  schoolgirl named Fatema Akter Lily, 17, was killed after her throat was slit with a sharp weapon in the capital’s Banasree area.

The incident took place between around 1:30pm and 3:30pm on Saturday, January 10, at a house named Pritom Villa on the main road of South Banasree. Lily was a Class 10 student of a local Radiant School.

According to police and family sources, Fatema Akter Lily was the daughter of Sajib Mia of Bamoin village under Lakhai police station in Habiganj district. She had been living with her family in a rented flat at Pritom Villa in Block L of South Banasree under Khilgaon police station.

Khilgaon police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Shafikul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said police rushed to the spot after receiving information in the afternoon and later recovered the body of the teenager from Faraji Hospital. “We found Lily’s throat slit at the hospital. The actual motive behind the killing is still unknown. Police are working on the matter,” he added.
