Schoolgirl shot in Khulna, hospitalised

A Class X schoolgirl was shot by miscreants in Khulna city on Friday evening, July 3. The attackers arrived on motorcycles, fired at her and fled. She was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

The incident occurred after Maghrib prayers in the Rupsa Abda area of the city. The injured girl, Iti, 15, is the daughter of Zulfikar, a local resident.

According to local residents and police, Iti was standing on the road talking to a friend near her house when several helmeted miscreants on three motorcycles arrived and shot her in the leg before fleeing.

Locals rescued Iti and admitted her to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Khulna Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Mizanur Rahman said police have visited the scene and launched an investigation. Locals are being questioned, but no written complaint has been received so far.

Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the shooting and the identity of the attackers.
