Hundreds of people have entered the Ganabhaban, the official residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Monday (August 5) afternoon. They were seen cheering on the Ganabhaban premises with their hands raised, chanting various victory slogans. Prior to that, a military helicopter took off from Bangabhaban with Sheikh Hasina at 2:30pm on Monday. At that time, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana was with her. Sources said that they left for West Bengal in India. After hearing the news, scores of people marched towards Ganabhaban from the surrounding areas. At this time, various things taken from Ganobhaban were seen in the hands of many people.

প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার দেশ ত্যাগের পর তাঁর সরকারি বাসভবন গণভবনে প্রবেশ করেছে হাজারো মানুষ। সোমবার (৫ আগস্ট) দুপুর ৩টার দিকে তারা গণভবনে প্রবেশ করেন। এ সময় গণভবন চত্বরে হাত তুলে বিভিন্ন বিজয়ের স্লোগান দিতে দেখা যায় তাদেরকে। এছাড়া প্রধানমন্ত্রীর দেশ ত্যাগের খবরে আনন্দে মেতে উঠেছে ছাত্র-জনতাও। এই আনন্দ-উল্লাসের মাঝে গণভবন থেকে নেয়া বিভিন্ন জিনিসপত্র অনেকের হাতে দেখা যায়। এর আগে (৫ অগাষ্ট) বেলা আড়াইটায় সামরিক হেলিকপ্টারযোগে দেশ ছাড়েন শেখ হাসিনা। এ সময় তাঁর সঙ্গে তাঁর ছোট বোন শেখ রেহানা ছিলেন। সূত্র আরও জানায়, তারা বঙ্গভবন থেকে ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গের উদ্দেশে রওনা দেন।
