Four police officers were injured in a scuffle while attempting to arrest a suspect during an overnight raid in the remote char area of the Jamuna River in Bhuapur upazila.

The operation, part of the ongoing “Devil Hunt” campaign, targeted Alam Sheikh (35), a suspect in a sabotage case filed with Tangail Sadar Police Station. Sheikh, a resident of Megharpatal village and son of Md. Fazlul Sheikh, allegedly attacked police when they attempted to arrest him on Saturday night, according to Bhuapur police sources.

Despite the resistance, law enforcement officials managed to subdue and detain Sheikh after a brief struggle. He was transferred to Tangail Sadar Police Station on Sunday morning.

Confirming the incident, Bhuapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.K.M. Rezaul Karim said, “While attempting to arrest Alam Sheikh, an accused in a sabotage case, a physical altercation ensued. Four of our officers sustained injuries, but the suspect was successfully apprehended.”

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the injured officers. Further investigations are underway.
