Seba Prokashoni, one of Bangladesh’s most iconic publishing houses, has temporarily suspended all of its operations following allegations of internal irregularities and corruption.

The decision was announced on Wednesday (May 13) through an official notice signed by Kazi Shahnoor Hossain, one of the partners of the publishing house.

According to the statement, authorities recently identified several allegations of financial irregularities and internal misconduct within the organisation. To ensure a fair, transparent and independent audit process, the management has decided to halt all operational activities until further notice.

Over the decades, the publication house introduced generations of readers to beloved series and characters that shaped Bengali popular literature.

The announcement comes as a major development in the country’s literary sphere, given the publisher’s historic legacy and enduring influence on Bangla fiction and youth literature.
