The Secretariat Officials and Employees Unity Forum has announced a two-hour strike tomorrow, demanding the repeal of the 'Government Jobs (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025'. The strike will take place from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Forum Co-Chairman Md Nurul Islam made the announcement during a protest held inside the Secretariat on Sunday (June 22). The demonstration began around 11:15am under the Ministry of Finance and moved through various sections of the Secretariat.

The ordinance, issued on 25 May following approval from the Advisory Council on 24 May, allows dismissal of government employees for four types of disciplinary offenses through a show cause notice, without requiring a departmental case.

Secretariat employees had previously protested the ordinance until 3 June and submitted memorandums to seven government advisers. They also issued an ultimatum demanding the ordinance be withdrawn by 15 June, warning of intensified action from 16 June.

On 4 June, the Cabinet Division formed a review committee led by Law, Judicial and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul. The committee’s first meeting is scheduled for Monday afternoon. The Law Adviser has requested that the protest be suspended until the committee presents its recommendations.
