Section 144 imposed in Tangail amid tension over Eid prayers

The upazila administration has imposed Section 144 in the Tatshri Eidgah field area of ​​Lauhati Union in Delduar upazila of Tangail due to tension between two parties over Eid prayers.

This information was given in a notification signed by Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Zahura Sultana Yuthi on Wednesday (May 27).

The notification said that Section 144 will be effective in the Tatshri Eidgah field area from 5am to 6:30pm on Thursday (May 28).

According to the upazila administration, a dispute and tension have arisen between two parties in the same village over Eid prayers. This order has been issued under the Criminal Procedure Code to keep the situation under control and ensure public safety.

Under the ban, all types of meetings, processions, processions, sloganeering, picketing, use of microphones, playing drums, creating chaos, carrying sticks and storing explosives have been banned within 400 yards of the Eidgah grounds.

However, the administration has said that essential services, including emergency medical services and food supply, will remain outside the ban.
