Security beefed up amid 'July Declaration' event

The anniversary of the July mass uprising is being observed today, Tuesday with a day-long programme at Manik Mia Avenue, Dhaka. Authorities have stepped up security measures, conducting thorough searches of attendees before allowing entry.

Law enforcement agencies, including plainclothes intelligence personnel, are deployed in large numbers around the venue. Multiple security checkpoints are in place to ensure smooth and safe proceedings.

The event features cultural performances starting at 11 AM, followed by the reading of the July Declaration by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at 5 PM at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. This will be broadcast live on Bangladesh Television. A drone show is set for 7:30 PM, and a band performance will conclude the day’s program at 8 PM.

A large stage, fully decorated in red with modern LED screens, lighting, and sound systems, has been erected on Manik Mia Avenue. Rows of golden chairs are arranged for attendees. Final preparations, including sound and lighting checks, are underway.
