Security beefed up at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata

The security of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission office in Kolkata, the capital city of Indian state of West Bengal, has been beefed up. Additional police personnel have been deployed.

The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission is located at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Sarani in the Park Circus area of Kolkata. Visiting the office on Wednesday morning, it was seen that a large number of police have been deployed in front of the office of the Deputy High Commission. The roads in that area were empty. Police were patrolling.

Mentionable, although visa applications were previously accepted at this office, a new visa application centre has been opened in Sector-5, Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Applicants are submitting their applications there. Later, they are going there on a specific date to receive their visas. Some are also receiving passports and visas through courier services.

According to sources, now 200 to 300 applications are being submitted for Bangladesh visas every day. Sometimes 400 applications are also being received on a daily basis.
