Security beefed up in front of DMRC

Joint forces have been deployed in front of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) at Demra in the capital’s Jatrabari area following an attack, vandalism, looting, and student clashes.

This scene was witnessed at 10:00 AM on Tuesday (November 26) in front of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Molla College, located on the Jatrabari-Demra Road.

The presence of police and military personnel in front of the college was seen. An APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) is stationed in front of the main gate.

On Monday (November 25), around 12:00 PM, a series of clashes broke out between the students of Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Molla College and the students of Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shahid Suhrawardy College. At one point, the students of Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Molla College retreated, and the students from Government Shahid Suhrawardy College and Kobi Nazrul Government College attacked the college, damaging both the interior and exterior of the institution. They also looted the college, turning it into a wreck. Police have stated that interested parties are involved in the incident, and they will be brought under the law soon.

As of 12:00 PM, no arrests have been made, but law enforcement agencies are working to identify the culprits.

Regarding this, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Wari Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Mohammad Saleh Uddin said that, “There is no update yet. If there is any progress, you will be informed. Joint forces, including the military and police, are stationed in front of the college. We are working on identifying those involved in the attack on the educational institution. Legal proceedings are ongoing.”
