Security has been tightened across Dhaka following cocktail explosions and incidents of vehicles being set on fire at eight locations in the capital.

The Special Response Battalion (SRB) and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have set up checkpoints at various key points across the city, including the entry points to Dhaka, to ensure security.

According to relevant sources, suspected individuals and vehicles are being searched at the checkpoints. Law enforcement personnel are also questioning people when necessary.

The DMP said it has more than 200 checkpoints across Dhaka as part of the enhanced security measures. Police are also deployed at the capital’s four entry points.

Meanwhile, general diaries and cases have been filed over yesterday’s incidents involving cocktail explosions and buses being set on fire. Police are collecting CCTV footage from the scenes and working to identify and arrest those involved.
