Senior journalist Ibrahim Azad no more

Senior journalist Ibrahim Azad has passed away. He suddenly fell ill at his home in Gulshan on Sunday evening, November 30, and was taken to United Hospital, where doctors declared him dead following a cardiac arrest.

He had recently joined a group of companies as an adviser. Before that, he served as consulting editor at Ekhon TV. He also worked as head of news at Ekushey Television, Deepto TV and News24.

Azad began his broadcast journalism career in 1999 as planning editor during the launch of Ekushey Television. After ETV was shut down, he joined ATN Bangla in the same role and later served as news editor.

When ETV resumed operations, he returned as news editor and went on to serve as head of news.

He started his professional life in print media. His journalism career began at Bhorer Kagoj, followed by Prothom Alo, where he worked as a senior reporter from its inception. His ancestral home is in Hathazari, Chattogram.
