Several hurt in 'exchange of gunfire' with joint forces in Khulna

A gunfight broke out between the joint forces and terrorists in Khulna at midnight. Several people, including two policemen, were injured in the incident, officials said. In addition, the police arrested 11 people from the scene.

The shooting incident took place during a joint operation by the Khulna Metropolitan Police and Navy at Abdur Rahman's house in Banargati Arambagh area under Sonadanga police station at around 12:30 am on Saturday (March 29).

Police sources said that 5/6 pistols, a large number of bullets and domestic sharp weapons, Chinese axes and chapatis, were seized from the scene. In addition, seven motorcycles were recovered.

The sources also said that the terrorists arrested in the operation include identified terrorists Sheikh Palash (33), Md. Ariful (27), Rubel Islam (35) alias Kala Lavlu, Fazle Rabbi Rajan (26), Mohammad Lyon Sharif (33), Imranuzzaman (33), Imran (35), Ripon (38), Saikat Rahman (27), Md. Mohidul Islam (35) and Md. Golam Rabbani (26).

In this regard, Khulna Metropolitan Police's Sonadanga Zone Assistant Commissioner (AC) Azam Khan said that after sensing the location of the terrorists, the hideout was surrounded and the joint force was informed. When the joint force came and surrounded it, the terrorists opened fire. They were arrested after conducting an operation for about two and a half to three hours after midnight.

The police official said, we have still blocked the place. Another operation will be conducted there in the morning. Many weapons and bullets have been recovered. Details will be given later.
