Sewchchhasebak Dal leader expelled for looting Awami League leaders' houses
Tofazzal Hossain Mufa, joint convener of Kaliganj upazila unit Sewchchhasebak Dal, has been expelled from all posts, including the primary member post, on charges of attacking, vandalizing and looting the houses of several Awami League and Jubo League leaders.
According to sources, Mufa carried out those attacks for not getting extortion.
The decision was announced through a press release signed by Gazipur District Sewchchhasebak Dal convener Hasibur Rahman Khan Munna and member secretary Ashraf Newaz Chowdhury Shaon on Thursday (March 13) night.
Ashraf Newaz Chowdhury Shaon confirmed the matter on Saturday (March 15) morning.
Shaon Chowdhury said that Tofazzal Hossain Mufa has been expelled as the allegations of attacking, vandalizing and looting the houses of several Awami League and Jubo League leaders were proven. Anyone found to be involved in activities against party discipline will be expelled.
Several leaders, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Tofazzal Hossain Mufa became reckless after August 5. He is accused of extorting money from opposition leaders and activists using the party's name. In addition, he often used to intimidate Hindus and expatriates and loot money and valuables from their houses.
Recently, he was accused of insulting a journalist from Kaliganj. These reasons have created anger against him among party leaders.
In this regard, expelled Tofazzal Hossain Mufa said: "Those who do not understand the true nature of politics are the ones who say Alhamdulillah after hearing my expulsion order."
