Shab-e-Barat today
The holy night of Shab-e-Barat is being observed across Bangladesh today, Tuesday, with due religious solemnity. The night, observed between the 14th and 15th of the Hijri month of Shaban, is known as Lailatul Barat and is regarded by Muslims as a night of blessings, mercy, and forgiveness.
On this occasion,, mosques across the country are holding special religious programmes, including voluntary prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran, zikr, religious sermons, and special prayers. Devout Muslims are spending the night in worship, seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has issued a message on the occasion, extending greetings to Muslims in Bangladesh and around the world. He called upon people to pray for the welfare of the country and to dedicate themselves to humanitarian service.
In his message, the Chief Adviser said believers can attain Allah’s mercy, blessings, and forgiveness through worship, charity, self-reflection, and sincere repentance.
A government holiday will be observed on Wednesday (February 4) on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
Special programmes have been arranged at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, including recitation of the Holy Quran, religious sermons, and collective prayers. Similar programmes have been organised by the Islamic Foundation at its divisional and district offices, Islamic Mission centres, and Imam Training Academies.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, as well as private television channels and radio stations, are broadcasting special religious programmes to mark the occasion.
