Shahbagh legitimized all wrongdoings during AL rule: Hasnat Abdullah
Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for the Southern Region, said that Shahbagh legitimized various wrongdoings, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, murders, Aynaghar, and judicial killings, during the Awami League's rule.
He said, "Those who played a role in establishing Shahbagh, both directly and indirectly, contributed to the rise of fascism over the past fifteen years. It was with their support that the fascist Hasina stayed in power."
Hasnat Abdullah made these comments in a post on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday night (March 11).
In the post, he wrote, "Shahbagh was not built in a day. No one person alone built Shahbagh. It was supported by so-called civil society, intellectuals, bureaucrats, cultural activists, foreign agents, politicians, and even athletes."
He further said, "Shahbagh took away people's freedom of speech and all fundamental human rights, including the right to live freely."
The NCP leader said, "After the 2024 uprising, we aim to ensure justice for all the wrongdoings, crimes, disappearances, murders, and oppression that took place in the past fifteen years. We hope that with everyone's efforts, this can be achieved. Through the united efforts of all anti-fascist forces, justice will be established on this land. We remain vigilant to preserve the spirit of the martyrs of July. We are committed to ensuring justice for all the wrongs and oppression that occurred during the past rule."
