Shaheed Minar vandalised in Gaibandha 8 days after facebook live declaration

Allegation of vandalising a part by hitting with a hammer has been raised against instructor Mohammad Ahsan Habib of Gaibandha Agriculture Training Institute at the Shaheed Minar of the institution. This incident took place around 7am on Monday (October 26).

Principal of the institute Md Mahbubur Rahman has informed that on October 18 last the accused instructor came on Facebook live, climbed the Shaheed Minar, gave derogatory statements and kicked. The principal has also claimed that the video of this incident is on his personal Facebook ID.

He has further informed that along with sending a complaint letter on official advice regarding the matter, a general diary (GD) was made at Gaibandha Sadar Thana on August 19 last. After the investigation officer of the thana came to the institute and met on Sunday, the next day on Monday morning the accused instructor broke quite a few tiles at the bottom of one pillar in the middle of the Shaheed Minar, he has alleged.

The principal has said that the matter of the incident has been informed immediately to the Director General, Director and Director of Training Wing of the Department of Agricultural Extension. The higher authorities have given assurance of taking action against the accused within the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, since the incident Mohammad Ahsan Habib is not being found. Although phone was made multiple times on his personal mobile number, he did not respond.

Gaibandha Sadar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Nazmul Huda has said that the matter is being investigated with importance. Necessary legal action will be taken in this incident.
