Shaheed Noor Hossain Day observed
Shaheed Noor Hossain Day has been observed with due dignity today (10 November).
Noor Hossain is an unforgettable name in the history of the movement for the establishment of democracy in Bangladesh.
Shaheed Noor Hossain has made his place in history by participating in the movement against military dictatorship and sacrificing himself to pave the way for the establishment of democracy.
A large part of the movement for the establishment of democracy in independent Bangladesh was against the military dictatorship. In continuation of this, on this day in 1987, Nur Hossain, the leader of the Jubo League, an affiliate of the Awami League, was martyred in the movement against the dictatorship of the then dictator Lieutenant General Hussain Muhammad Ershad. And on this day, Aminul Huda Tito, the leader of the CPB's mass organization Khet Mazur Samiti, was also martyred.
On November 10, 1987, there was a sit-in program in front of the secretariats of 15 parties, 7 parties and 5 parties. The sit-in, in support of the student organizations associated with that program, took the form of a protest program. Ignoring all the obstacles of the dictator, a procession of protesting students and the public gathered around the Secretariat from the morning of November 10. Then, after crossing the police box at the entrance to Topkhana Road, Noor Hossain's courageous procession began.
As soon as the rally began, the police began to charge baton and tear gas. Paltan was a battlefield at that time. In the meantime, news came that Noor Hossain had been martyred in police firing. Many were injured.
A new struggle for democracy began that day through Noor Hossain's sacrifice. In the course of that struggle, the dictator announced his resignation on December 4, 1990.
Democratic political parties participating in the anti-dictatorship movement observe this day with due dignity every year and remember Shaheed Noor Hossain. Aminul Huda Tito is also remembered on this day.
