Shameful to see opponents of 1971 in opposition party: Harunur Rashid

Former MP from Chapainawabganj-3 constituency and administrator of Chapainawabganj Zilla Parishad, Harunur Rashid, said that it is shameful to see those who opposed the 1971 Liberation War in the role of the opposition party in parliament. Jamaat-e-Islami took a stand against the people of the country during the Liberation War.

He said this as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the development of the Uniblock road from Alauddin Hotel at Udayan More in Chapainawabganj Municipality on Sunday (July 19).

Harunur Rashid said that although the current government has been in office for only four months, positive changes have been taken in the education sector. The education system was weakened in the last decade. The quality of education has been affected due to autopass and various methods of awarding marks.

He said that the current Education Minister is working to bring students back to the classroom and establish discipline in the education system. Some leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) are instigating instead of cooperating in this effort.

Harunur Rashid, noting that BNP has brought the support of the people to power, said that the government's progress cannot be hindered by instigating. He also commented that the government will work uncompromisingly to restore discipline in educational institutions and improve the quality of education.

Former vice chairman of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Parishad Nazrul Islam, former councilor of Chapainawabganj Municipality Abdul Barek, Masidul Haque Nikhil and local leaders were also present at the event.
