Shariatpur DC made OSD

Mohammad Ashraf Uddin, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Shariatpur, has been reassigned as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) following the circulation of a controversial video involving a woman. The Ministry of Public Administration issued the notification on Saturday (June 21).

However, the ministry did not provide any explanation for his reassignment as OSD. Earlier, on Friday morning, a 57-second video was posted on social media by an expatriate journalist.

According to the district administration, Ashraf Uddin joined as the DC of Shariatpur on November 3, 2024. He is an officer of the 27th BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) Administration Cadre.

Around six years ago, in 2019, a similar video involving the then Jamalpur DC, Ahmed Kabir, and a female office assistant went viral. He was later penalized following the recommendation of a departmental investigation committee.
