The court has discharged Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin from the case filed over the murder of Md Sohan Shah, an Executive Mechanical Engineer at Virgo Garments Company, during the anti-discrimination movement.

On Tuesday, November 25, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jamshed Alam issued the discharge order. The information was confirmed by DMP Prosecution Division’s Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Mia Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan.

Earlier, on November 24, the investigation officer RAB-3 Sub-Inspector (SI) Mostafizur Rahman submitted an interim report under Section 173(a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. On September 19, Sohan’s mother, Sufia Begum, filed the case with the court, naming 57 accused, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Bashir Uddin was accused No. 49. The court later directed Rampura Police Station to treat the complaint as an FIR.
