Sheikh Hasina, 113 others recommended for exemption in attempted murder case
In an attempted murder case linked to the July public uprising, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has recommended exemption for displaced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and 113 others, as they could not identify any victims or injured parties.
The PBI submitted the final investigation report to the Dhaka Judicial Court, which has scheduled the next hearing for February 13.
The case alleges that on 4 August 2024, Sahed Ali was injured while returning home from work near Dhanmondi-27. Subsequently, Sheikh Hasina and 113 others were named in a case filed at Dhanmondi Police Station for attempted murder.
The PBI recommended exemption for all accused, including Sheikh Hasina, citing inability to locate victims and factual errors in the complaint.
