Sheikh Hasina calls tribunal's verdict biased, politically motivated

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has described the International Crimes Tribunal’s verdict against her as biased and politically motivated, according to a BBC report.

Speaking from India, she issued a five-page statement after the death sentence was announced, claiming the verdict is aimed at “politically neutralising the Awami League.”

Earlier, she dismissed the tribunal proceedings as a “farce” and rejected all charges, adding that she would face her accusers if a fair trial were conducted.

She challenged the caretaker government, suggesting the case could be taken to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, and highlighted her record in human rights and development as a matter of pride.
