Sheikh Hasina expresses deep concern over Khaleda Zia’s health

Awami League President and Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep concern over the serious illness of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

In an email interview with the Indian news agency IANS, Sheikh Hasina wished Khaleda Zia a speedy recovery.

When asked about Khaleda Zia’s medical condition, she said, “Begum Khaleda Zia is unwell. Hearing this news, I am deeply concerned. I pray for her recovery.”

Seventy-nine-year-old Khaleda Zia has been suffering from multiple health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney problems. On the night of November 23, her condition worsened, and she was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. On November 27, she was moved to the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit for close monitoring.

A medical board, consisting of local and foreign specialists, now oversees Begum Zia's treatment. Although there were plans to take her to London for advanced treatment, some complications have delayed that process.
