Sheikh Hasina's name will echo in my head until she is hanged: Snigdha

BNP leader Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, twin brother of July movement martyr Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdha, has said that the name of Sheikh Hasina will echo in his head until she is hanged.

He made the remarks in a Facebook post on his verified account on Tuesday.

Posting under the name “Mir Snigdha”, he wrote: “The name born out of hatred is Sheikh Hasina. It is not only mine but also of every ordinary Bangladeshi who suffered under her rule in the past 16 years. Until killer Hasina is brought back and hanged in this land, her name will echo in my head morning and night, awake or asleep.”

He further wrote: “Every time this name is uttered, remember, it comes only from hatred. There will be no peace until this killer Sheikh Hasina is hanged. The name Sheikh will continue to come out of our mouths until this tyrant is executed.”

Recently, Mir Snigdha joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He said he joined the party to work for the young generation and the martyrs and injured victims of the July movement from a larger political platform.

In another Facebook post, he said his aim in joining politics was to represent July at the highest level, to be the voice of the martyrs and injured fighters, and to ensure youth representation in politics. He mentioned that neither his brother Mugdha nor any of his family members were involved in politics. Calling Mugdha a “national asset”, he said his entry into politics was a personal decision based on merit. BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman wanted him in the party to represent the youth, which aligns with his political aspiration.
