Police arrested SM Mizanur Rahman, personal officer to Sheikh Hasina, from the Dhanmondi area of the capital. The arrest took place around 10.00pm on Wednesday near LabAid Hospital. According to reports, around 10.00pm, several Dhaka College students along with passersby detained Mizanur and turned him over to New Market Police Station. He is a suspect in a murder case connected to the July killings. Mohsin Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of New Market Police Station, said "Mizanur Rahman is accused in a murder case tied to the anti-discrimination movement. He has been arrested in that case, and legal action is being taken."

শেখ হাসিনার ব্যক্তিগত কর্মকর্তা (পিও) এস এম মিজানুর রহমানকে রাজধানীর ধানমণ্ডি ল্যাবএইড হাসপাতালের সামনে থেকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। তাকে বৈষম্যবিরোধী আন্দোলন চলাকালে ‘জুলাই হত্যার’ একটি মামলায় গ্রেপ্তার দেখানো হয়েছে। বুধবার (৭ মে) রাত দশটার দিকে ঢাকা কলেজের বেশ কয়েকজন ছাত্র এবং পথচারীরা মিজানকে আটকে নিউমার্কেট থানায় হস্তান্তর করেন। থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মহসিন উদ্দিন বলেন, ‘মিজানুর রহমানকে মামলাটিতে গ্রেপ্তার করে আইনগত ব্যবস্থা নেয়া হচ্ছে’। বৃহস্পতিবার (৮ মে) তাকে আদালতে সোপর্দ করে রিমান্ডের আবেদন জানানো হবে বলেও জানিয়েছেন ওসি।
