Sher-e-Bangla was an 'Immortal Statesman' of subcontinent: Tarique Rahman
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman paid heartfelt tributes to Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq on Sunday, describing him as an "Immortal Politician" of the Indian subcontinent, marking the 63rd death anniversary of the legendary leader.
In a statement, Tarique Rahman recalled Sher-e-Bangla's unwavering commitment to the fight for the rights of the people throughout his life.
"On this solemn occasion, the death anniversary of our national leader Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, I offer my deepest homage to his eternal and ever-shining memory," he said.
Tarique Rahman praised Sher-e-Bangla as an extraordinary statesman and visionary politician who remained steadfast in his pursuit of justice and equality for the common people, right up until his final breath.
"His courageous and resolute role in the anti-British movement has earned him an immortal place in history," the BNP Acting Chairman remarked. He added that Sher-e-Bangla’s significant contributions to politics, education, agriculture, and society played a vital role in advancing the nation's progress.
Tarique Rahman highlighted Sher-e-Bangla's prominent role in the anti-British struggle and emphasized that his legacy would forever be remembered for its positive impact on the political, social, and economic development of the country.
He also acknowledged Sher-e-Bangla’s legislative achievements, including the formation of the Debt Arbitration Board, the enactment of the Tenant Rights Act, the Moneylenders Act, and the Shop Employees Act. According to Tarique Rahman, these initiatives significantly transformed the lives of Bengal’s agrarian and working-class communities.
"Sher-e-Bangla Fazlul Huq is a truly remarkable figure in our national history. His unparalleled contributions to nurturing the spirit of independence and democratic values will forever remain alive in the hearts of the people of this land," he stated.
Tarique Rahman concluded by praising Sher-e-Bangla's political wisdom, foresight, and patriotism, stating that his ideals should serve as a guiding light for future generations of political leaders.
He ended his message by praying for the eternal peace of Sher-e-Bangla’s soul.
