The 199th Eid-ul-Azha congregation at the historic Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj will be held at 9:00 am. Mufti Abul Khayer Mohammad Saifullah, khatib of the town's Boro Bazar Jame Mosque, will lead the prayers.

Deputy Commissioner and Eidgah Committee President Sohana Nasrin disclosed the information at a pre-Eid press briefing at the Sholakia Eidgah ground on Tuesday, May 26.

Kishoreganj-1 MP and district BNP General Secretary Mazharul Islam conveyed Eid greetings from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam. He expressed hope that the Eid congregation would be held in a peaceful and disciplined manner, similar to Eid-ul-Fitr.

Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman said worshippers have been requested to bring only prayer mats. A four-tier security system has been put in place, including a large number of police, two platoons of BGB, RAB, CID, PBI and other law enforcement personnel.

Security measures include drone cameras, watchtowers, CCTV cameras, archways, metal detectors and bomb disposal units of the Anti-Terrorism Unit.

The DC said two special 'Sholakia Special' trains will be operated from Bhairab and Mymensingh on Eid morning for the convenience of distant worshippers.

As per tradition, three shots will be fired 10 minutes before the congregation, two shots five minutes before, and one shot one minute before as signals. However, due to Eid-ul-Azha's sacrificial activities, the number of worshippers is typically lower than Eid-ul-Fitr.
