Shopkeeper hacked to death over juice purchase in Bagerhat
A shopkeeper named Mujahid Molla, 40, has been accused of hacking to death over juice purchase in Chitalmari, Bagerhat. The incident took place in Hijla village of the upazila around 7am on Thursday (May 7).
The deceased Mujahid Molla is the son of Sarwar Jahan Molla of Hijla village. He was the president of the local ward number 3 of Jamaat-e-Islami.
According to police and local sources, Mujahid Molla was sitting in front of his shop this morning. At that time, a local person named Bayzid Izaradar bought a juice from his shop. Later, he complained that the juice was not good. At that time, the shopkeeper Mujahid Molla drank the juice himself and said that it was not bad. At one stage of the argument, Bayzid Izaradar hit Mujahid in the neck with a sharp weapon in his hand. Mujahid was taken to the Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex in a seriously injured condition, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Chitalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam said that immediately after the incident, the police inspected the scene and the accused Bayzid Izaradar was arrested.
He also said that the process of sending the body of the deceased to Bagerhat District Hospital for autopsy is underway. Preparations are underway to file a case in this regard. The accused Bayzid is the son of Badsha Izaradar of the same village.
