Shops, malls allowed to stay open until 10pm for Eid-ul-Azha

Shops and shopping malls will be allowed to remain open until 10:00 pm for Eid-ul-Azha, the Power Division has said. However, after Eid, shops, business establishments and malls must close at 7:00 pm as usual.

The information was confirmed in a press release sent by Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry PRO (Director) Muhammad Arif Sadek on Tuesday, May 26.

Senior officials of the Power Division and its subordinate departments or agencies have been instructed to continuously monitor the electricity situation at their respective workplaces or locations to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Eid.

Officials will visit and inspect the electricity situation in the areas where they are staying during the Eid holidays and provide necessary directives. They will also submit a report to the Secretary of the Power Division regarding their inspections.

To reduce customer dissatisfaction during power outages due to regular maintenance work and sudden disruptions, instructions have been given to inform customers through announcements and social media from local power supply centres. Local mosque imams and muezzins will also be used to inform customers.

The Power Division hopes that with coordinated efforts, electricity supply across the country will remain normal and stable during Eid.
