Shots fired from moving car in Pallabi, two including woman injured

Two people, including a woman, were shot in an incident of firing from a moving vehicle in Pallabi, Dhaka. The incident occurred around 5:45pm on Friday, August 7, at the 2nd Lane of Millat Camp in Pallabi.

The injured are: Alamgir Hossain, 45, and pedestrian Jyotsna Begum. Alamgir, who was critically injured, was first taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Jyotsna Begum was admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital.

Pallabi Police Station OC Hasan Bashir said three rounds were fired from a moving private car targeting Alamgir. During this time, a stray bullet hit Jyotsna Begum's right leg while she was crossing the road.

Police initially believe the attack was motivated by prior enmity over the drug trade. Investigation officers said allegations have been made against a local identified terrorist, 'Langra Rubel,' and his associate Bappa over their involvement in the attack.

Three bullet shells have been recovered from the scene. CCTV footage from the area is being collected and reviewed. Information about the vehicle used in the attack has also been obtained by investigators.

DMP's Mirpur Division Deputy Commissioner Mostak Sarkar said the shooter involved in the attack has been identified. Operations are underway to arrest him, and he will be brought under the law soon.

A case is being processed at Pallabi Police Station regarding the incident.
