Show-cause notice issued over controversial BTV programme

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has served a show-cause notice to BTV programme executive Begum Mahbuba Ferdous for airing content on the show 'Janatar Samne' that contradicted government activities. She has been asked to submit a written explanation by Sunday (July 13).

The notice mentioned that Mahbuba Ferdous had approved the 'Janatar Samne' episode that aired at 9.00pm on June 27. However, the content of that episode contradicted government actions and harmed the image of both the government and the ministry.

The notice further stated, "Your negligence has damaged the image of both the government and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting." Mahbuba Ferdous has been given three working days to explain why no disciplinary action should be taken against her. This incident has sparked concerns about accountability and transparency in programming at state-run media, according to several stakeholders.
