SI killed in bus accident in Khilgaon

A police Sub-Inspector (SI), Kamrul Islam (37), was tragically killed after being struck by a bus near the Khilgaon Flyover embankment last night.

Kamrul Islam, attached to Motijheel Police Station, was traveling by motorcycle from his residence in Basabo to his workplace around 8:30 PM when the accident occurred. According to police sources, the bus hit him near a meat shop on the Khilgaon road, causing him to fall onto the road.

He was immediately taken to Islami Bank Central Hospital in Kakrail by local residents, but doctors declared him dead around 9:30 PM.

Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Hossain of Shahjahanpur Police Station confirmed the incident and said the bus, operated by Balaka Transport, has been seized. The driver, Jahangir Ahmed Tipu, has been arrested, and legal action is underway.

Kamrul Islam lived with his family in a rented home in Basabo. His ancestral home is in Netrokona Sadar.

The body of the deceased has been kept at Mugda Medical College Hospital.
