Meteorological Department has asked four seaports, including Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar, to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.

In a weather warning on Thursday (August 21), Meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman said that moving clouds are forming in the North Bay of Bengal due to the effect of active monsoon winds. Due to this, gusty/stormy winds may blow over the North Bay of Bengal, coastal areas of Bangladesh and seaports. Due to this, the seaports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to display local cautionary signal number 3.

He also said that fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal have been asked to come close to the coast and move carefully until further orders.

Meanwhile, in a heavy rainfall warning, the Met Office said that heavy (44-88 mm in 24 hours) and very heavy (188 mm in 24 hours) rainfall is likely to occur in some places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions in the next 72 hours from this morning due to the active southwest monsoon. Due to the very heavy rainfall, there is a possibility of landslides in some places in the hilly areas of Chattogram division.
