Signing of July Charter postponed by two days
The signing ceremony of the July National Charter has been postponed by two days. Instead of the previously scheduled October 15, the event will now take place on October 17 at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building.
The decision was made on Saturday, October 11, at a meeting of the National Consensus Commission held at the state guest house Jamuna, with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus in the chair. The matter was later confirmed in a statement issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.
According to the Press Wing, the ceremony was rescheduled to a weekend to ensure greater public participation.
Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Dr Ali Riaz said, “The signing of the July National Charter will mark a historic moment in the country’s history. To ensure public engagement, the ceremony will now be held on Friday afternoon at the Parliament premises.”
Earlier, the Commission had announced that the event would be held on October 15. However, as per the new decision, it has been deferred by two days.
The meeting also decided that, in addition to representatives from political parties and alliances, professionals from various sectors would also be invited to attend the ceremony.
Commission members Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider were present at the meeting.
