Singer Asif Akbar to become BCB Director unopposed

The board of directors’ election of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be held on October 6. Singer and former cricketer Asif Akbar will be the director unopposed there.

Wednesday, was the last day for cancellation of candidatures. The last time for cancellation of nominations was until 12 noon, during which 16 director candidates including Tamim Iqbal have withdrawn from the election.

Meanwhile, Mir Helal Uddin has withdrawn from Chattogram District Sports Association, due to which there is only one candidate from there and singer and cricket enthusiast Asif Akbar will be the director unopposed.

In addition, Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury won unopposed from Chattogram Divisional Sports Association.

Tamim Iqbal was a big surprise on the last day of withdrawal of candidatures. Many of the former captain and pro-BNP sports organizers have withdrawn their names from the upcoming BCB elections. This list also includes heavyweight candidates like Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Israfil Khasru, Syed Borhanul Islam, and Rafiqul Islam Babu.
