Awami League candidate Momtaz Begum, popular singer and three-time member of parliament, has lost the electoral race to independent candidate Dewan Zahid Ahemd Tulu in Manikganj-2. Competing with the electoral symbol 'truck', Tulu pulled 84,525 votes in 193 polling stations, according to preliminary results announced by returning officer on Sunday night. On the other hand, Momtaz got 78,269 votes in the boat symbol.

মানিকগঞ্জ-২ আসনে আওয়ামী লীগের প্রার্থী সংগীতশিল্পী ও তিনবারের সংসদ সদস্য মমতাজ বেগম হেরে গেছেন। এ আসনে বিজয়ী হয়েছেন স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী দেওয়ান জাহিদ আহমেদ টুলু। রোববার রাতে রিটার্নিং অফিসার ঘোষিত বেসরকারি ফলাফল অনুযায়ী, ট্রাক প্রতীকে ৮৪ হাজার ৫২৫ ভোট পেয়েছেন টুলু। অন্যদিকে নৌকা প্রতীকে মমতাজ পেয়েছেন ৭৮ হাজার ২৬৯ ভোট।
