Singer Nobel detained
Controversial singer Mainul Ahsan Noble has been arrested by the police on charges of woman abuse. The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday (May 20) by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
A video recently went viral showing Nobel assaulting a woman and dragging her. Following this, the victim filed a complaint, leading to the arrest of Nobel at 11 AM on Tuesday.
Nobel first gained recognition through the Indian music competition show "Sa Re Ga Ma." He has also lent his voice to several film songs throughout his career. Previously, he had taken a break from music due to substance abuse, but after a long hiatus, he made a comeback, vowing not to disappoint his audience again. He promised to leave his past behind and focus on regularly delivering new songs.
It’s worth mentioning that about two years ago, Nobel faced accusations of fraud after taking advance payment for a performance and not showing up. The case was filed at the Motijheel Police Station in Dhaka. On May 16, Nobel was accused of fraud after taking an advance of 1,72,000 BDT for an event at the Shariatpur Bhedorganj Headquarters Pilot High School for the 2016 SSC batch, but failing to perform. He was detained and even spent a day in remand. The case was filed by Mohammad Safayet Islam, a representative of the 2016 SSC batch.
