Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel has said that at the situation right now is not suitable for opening educational institutions in the country. He said this in response to the questions of journalists after emerging out of a meeting with the university teachers on the pension issue at the conference room of the ministry on Monday (July 29) afternoon. The minister said, "We have to discuss this matter with those who are in charge. At this moment, that situation is not favourable for the opening of educational institutions. Asked whether the opening of the primary schools was discussed in the cabinet meeting, he said, "I will not comment on it now. What was discussed there cannot be discussed outside.” The Prime Minister's advisor on education and culture Dr Kamal Abdel Nasser Chowdhury and President of the Parliamentary Committee on the Ministry of Education and former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and other officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.

শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান খোলার বিষয়ে শিক্ষামন্ত্রী মহিবুল হাসান চৌধুরী নওফেল বলেছেন, এই মুহূর্তে দেশে শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান খোলার পরিস্থিতি নেই। সোমবার (২৯ জুলাই) বিকেলে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের সম্মেলন কক্ষে পেনশন ইস্যুতে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষকদের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে বসেন শিক্ষামন্ত্রী। এ সময় সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের জবাবে তিনি এ কথা বলেন। শিক্ষামন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, “এ বিষয়ে যারা দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত আছেন তাদের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করতে হবে। এই মহূর্তে সেই পরিস্থিতি (শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান খোলা) তো নেই। আর আপনারা যেমনটি বলছেন কয়েকজন নেমেছে, কয়জন নেমেছে বা কী হয়েছে সে ব্যাপারে এই মুহূর্তে আমাদের কাছে তথ্য নেই। তথ্য পেলে আমরা জানাতে পারব।” এ সময় মন্ত্রিসভার বৈঠকে প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় খোলার বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে কি-না জানতে চাইলে তিনি বলেন, “এটা নিয়ে আমি এখন কোনো মন্তব্য করব না। সেখানে কী আলোচনা হয়েছে সেটি নিয়ে বাইরে আলোচনা করা যায় না।” বৈঠকে অন্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রীর শিক্ষা ও সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক উপদেষ্টা ড. কামাল আবদেল নাসের চৌধুরী, শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয় সম্পর্কিত সংসদীয় কমিটির সভাপতি ও সাবেক শিক্ষামন্ত্রী নুরুল ইসলাম নাহিদসহ মন্ত্রণালয়ের কর্মকর্তারা ।
