Six killed by lightning strikes across country
Six people, including a school student, have been killed in separate lightning strikes in six districts across the country from morning to afternoon on Friday, June 5. The incidents occurred in Barguna, Patuakhali, Shariatpur, Pirojpur, Barishal and Chandpur.
In Barguna Sadar upazila's Burirchar union, a farmer named Mohiuddin, 40, was killed by lightning while cutting soil with a spade in a agricultural field.
In Patuakhali's Dumki upazila, Mojibar Sardar, 50, died after being struck by lightning while bringing cows home from a crop field during rain.
In Shariatpur's Gosairhat upazila, Musa Hawladar, 45, died after being struck by lightning while bringing cows from the field. He was taken to the upazila health complex in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
In Pirojpur's Mathbaria upazila, Swareb Jomadder, 50, a farmer, died after being struck by lightning while searching for his cows grazing in the field when sudden rain began.
In Barishal's Agailjhara upazila, Tanvir Khan, 18, an SSC examinee this year, died after being struck by lightning while working at a fish enclosure.
In Chandpur's Faridganj upazila, Nabi Hossain Miji, 27, was struck by lightning while returning home after work before Juma prayers. He collapsed on the spot and was declared dead at the hospital.
Local public representatives have expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and assured necessary assistance.
