Six more die of dengue in 24 hrs

Dengue has claimed six more lives in the past 24 hours, raising this year’s death toll to 269, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, 983 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 227 were from Dhaka North City Corporation — the highest among all areas.

Of the six new deaths, four reported in Dhaka North City Corporation, while Dhaka South and Barishal each reported one death.

Division-wise, 171 new cases were reported in Dhaka division (outside city areas), 141 in Barishal, 133 in Dhaka South, 111 in Chattogram, 78 in Rajshahi, 62 in Khulna, 41 in Mymensingh, 12 in Rangpur, and 7 in Sylhet.

So far this year, Dhaka South City Corporation has recorded the highest number of deaths at 130, followed by Barishal with 40, Dhaka North 38, Chattogram 25, Rajshahi 14, Mymensingh 10, Khulna 8, Dhaka division 3, and Sylhet 1.
