Six political parties to get EC registration

Six new political parties, including the National Citizen Party (NCP), are set to receive final registration from the Election Commission (EC). After the commission’s approval, a public notice will be issued regarding the newly registered parties.

Responsible EC sources confirmed the matter.

According to the sources, following field-level verification of 22 parties, a file has been placed recommending final registration for six—National Citizen Party (NCP), Bangladesh Aam Janagan Party, Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party, and Bangladesh National League among them. The concerned branch completed its proceedings and signatures last Sunday. On Monday, September 22, the file will be sent to the commission for approval. However, the commission may add or omit names from the branch’s proposal. Essentially, the public notice will be issued only after the commission’s final approval.

Sources further said that files of six parties have been placed for registration. Ten parties will face reinvestigation, while applications of the remaining six have been rejected. Of the 10, field-level reinvestigation will be conducted for nine, while the responsibility of reinvestigation for one may be given to a senior EC official.
