Smoke was spotted at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s Departure Terminal-1 around 3:15pm on Monday (November 17), causing panic among outbound passengers. Airport fire service personnel, assisted by Civil Defence teams, quickly brought the situation under control. Md. Rafiqul Islam, deputy director of the airport fire service, confirmed the incident. "Preliminary reports suggest the smoke may have been caused by a cigarette thrown between the terminal walls," he said. "Authorities are investigating the incident, and thankfully, no one was harmed," he added.

সোমবার (১৭ নভেম্বর) বিকেল ৩:১৫টার দিকে হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর,বহির্গমন টার্মিনাল-১-এ ধোঁয়া দেখা দেয়। এতে প্রস্থানকারী যাত্রীদের মধ্যে আতঙ্ক সৃষ্টি হয়। বিমানবন্দর ফায়ার সার্ভিস কর্মীরা সিভিল ডিফেন্স দলের সহায়তায় দ্রুত পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। বিমানবন্দর ফায়ার সার্ভিসের উপপরিচালক মোঃ রফিকুল ইসলাম এই ঘটনার নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, ’প্রাথমিক প্রতিবেদনে ধোঁয়ার কারণ হিসেবে টার্মিনালের দেয়ালের মধ্যে ফেলা একটি সিগারেটকে মনে করা হচ্ছে।’ তিনি আরও বলেন, ’কর্তৃপক্ষ ঘটনার তদন্ত করছে, এবং সৌভাগ্যবশত, কেউ আহত হয়নি।’
