Son arrested for killing father over drug dispute in Chattogram
A father was killed in Chattogram’s Mirsharai upazila after being assaulted by his son following an argument over drug dealing activities.
The incident took place around 9:30pm in the remote East Alinagar Wishtola village under Ward No. 8 of Korerhat Union, near the India border on Friday (May 15).
The deceased was identified as Abu Ahmad, 70, while the accused, his son Ibrahim Milon, 40, was arrested at the scene by police.
According to family members and local sources, long-standing tensions persisted between father and son over Milon’s alleged involvement in drug trading. On the day of the incident, another heated argument broke out over the same issue, escalating into physical violence. At one stage, Milon allegedly punched and kicked his father in the abdomen, leaving him critically injured. Abu Ahmad died on the spot.
Police later recovered the body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy on Saturday morning (May 16).
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Jorarganj Police Station Mohammad Abdul Halim said the accused was arrested immediately after the incident and legal proceedings are underway.
