Son dies after father, daughter in Narayanganj gas explosion
The 12-year-old son of a family burnt in a gas explosion in Fatullah, Narayanganj, died on Wednesday evening, raising the death toll in the family to three.
Monna, who had suffered 40 per cent burns, died while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka around 6:45 pm, said resident surgeon Dr Shaon Bin Rahman.
Earlier on May 11, Monna's father, vegetable vendor Md Miar Kalam, 35, died at the same hospital with 95 per cent burns. His four-year-old daughter, Kotha, died the following day on May 12. Monna's mother, Sayma, and another daughter, Munni, remain hospitalised in critical condition.
The explosion occurred on the morning of May 10 due to a leak in a Titas gas line on the ground floor of a six-storey building in the Giridhara area of Fatullah, according to Fire Service officials.
The family, originally from Balukdia village in Bauphal upazila, Patuakhali, lived in a rented flat in the building.
