Son's body brought to prison gate to show inmate father

A convicted prisoner serving a life sentence at Rajshahi Central Jail was granted permission to see his son's body one last time at the prison's main gate.

The prisoner, Dulal, a resident of Chapainawabganj, lost his son Abdullah, who died in a road accident on Saturday, April 2. The family requested permission for the father to see his son's face one last time. The prison authorities acted swiftly on humanitarian grounds under the directive of the Inspector General of Prisons.

Under the supervision of Senior Jail Superintendent Al Mamun, the body was brought to the prison's main gate, where Dulal was allowed to view his son while adhering to security protocols. Dulal broke down in tears upon seeing his son's lifeless body, a sight that moved onlookers, including prison guards and relatives.

The prison authorities said the initiative was taken considering the humanitarian aspect while maintaining law and security. The gesture demonstrated that prisoners are not immune to family bonds and emotions, they added.
