Nuruddin Md Sadeque Hossain, the Managing Director (MD) of Southeast Bank, has been placed on a three-month mandatory leave starting Monday (May 5)  until August 4.

During this period, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Abdur Rahman Chowdhury will serve as acting MD.

This decision was made during a board meeting of the bank held on Sunday, May 4.

It has been reported that various irregularities occurred during the tenure of the bank’s former chairman, Alamgir Kabir. The MD has been sent on leave to allow for an investigation into his possible involvement in those issues.

Previously, based on recommendations from the Bangladesh Bank, the boards of directors of six other banks also placed their MDs on forced leave. Most recently, last month, Islami Bank Bangladesh’s MD Muhammad Munirul Moula was sent on a three-month leave.
